NWCAHSN Connected Health Ecosystem Event February 2016
If you haven’t attended a North West Coast Academic Health Science Network event before then I would check out their web site to keep up to date with the free events that they run throughout the North West. I recently attended the event above and was very impressed with the range of speakers that spoke quite frankly about their experience of bringing together patients, the NHS and technology, specifically mobile apps.
This was also a really good networking event and it was great to hook up with Maureen Chadwick from Diabetes Complete Care UK who I have been in touch with on LinkedIn for years but have never actually met in the flesh until this event! The team from NWCAHSN made everybody very welcome and thanks to Bryan Griffiths who kick started our discussion on our table about what mobile apps are needed for patients and the NHS and what the barriers are to their adoption.
At the end of the event,13 companies were allowed a 90 second slot to pitch their products to the crowd and they were introduced by Liz Mear who was a great host for the day. You can see me above panicking as I prepared to tell the audience about our NHS Wayfinding App which we are currently piloting in Southport and Formby District General Hospital before rolling it out to 4 other hospitals. The app allows patients, visitors and staff to easily find their way around a hospital using a Google Maps style of navigation.
All in all it was a very interesting and thought provoking event and I look forward to the next one and hope to see you there!
