Case Study: My Local Motors
Project Description
The My Local Motors web site is a searchable directory of over 60,000 motoring companies in the UK. By selecting a location and a service you can instantly see the nearest companies to you that supply the services that you are looking for. There are over 100 different types of services related to the motoring trade and these include:-
- Local Garages
- Trusted Mechanics
- Taxi Companies
- MOT Service Stations
- Van and Car Hire
We were asked to develop this site from scratch and also to ensure that the database was secure, scaleable, and could interface with two mobile phone apps that we also developed for My Local Motors.
After a number of brainstorming meetings with our customer we defined some initial wireframe mock ups of the web site that were approved. The initial web site was then developed and the search was optimised by using extensive memory caching.
Once the search was working we then developed a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) bolt on module for the My Local Motors sales team so that they could target potential advertising customers by a number of criteria such as services offered, location etc.
Users of the site can easily create an account to leave reviews on the companies listed and companies can log into their own account to update their details and upload pictures and social networking links.
To ensure complete security of the site it runs as an SSL site and the launch was successfully accompanied by advertising on a number of radio stations.
Technical Stuff
The web site was developed using Visual Studio as a .Net MVC 4 project that was written in a combination of C#, Linq, Angular and Javascript. The data is stored in a high availability SQL Server and we also make extensive use of memory caching to ensure that the search results are as fast as possible. To ensure that the web site was responsive on mobile devices we incorporated Twitter Bootstrap into the web site.
Case Study: KVS van hire
Project Description
We took over this project as our customer was having problems with updating his existing site. He was not able to make any changes himself but had to keep going back to his supplier to alter the site for him. The van hire business is very competitive and he needed to be able to update the site to keep ahead of his competitors on a daily basis.
We wrote a complete new website for him based around a Content Management System (CMS) that gave him this flexibility and enabled him to:-
- Alter hire prices within seconds rather than days
- Alter any text on the site
- Upload and tag photos
- Link to a number of other microsites that we also developed for the customer
- Take bookings and have these sent as SMS messages as well as email
We are currently working on the site to tweak it to be optimised for SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) using Google and Bing Webmaster tools.
Technical Stuff
This was another web site that we developed using Visual Studio as a .Net MVC 4 project that was written in a combination of C#, Linq, and Javascript. All the CMS content is stored in a high availability SQL Server.
Case Study: Datatrace UK
Project Description
Innove Solutions was commissioned by Datatrace UK to redesign their website to reflect the company’s professional and dependable image, and to make it easier to navigate. This involved re-coding the database, creating a client and employee login area, designing new content pages and introducing new photography.
Technical Stuff
We developed this web site before the Microsoft MVC (Model View Controller) technology was developed so it was programmed using Microsoft web forms. All the authentication data and site content is database driven and stored in a high availability SQL Server.
Case Study: The Desk and Chair foundation
Project Description
We were asked to redevelop this web site as the existing site made it very difficult to update with the constant stream of new photos, stories and videos that needed to be posted on the site. The Desk and Chair Foundation is a charitable trust with a mission to provide Tanzanian communities with vocational education for needy children, access to clean water and other actions based on an intimate and thorough understanding of its social and cultural needs. This website performs a vital role in communicating these objectives, urgently requesting support and demonstrating the positive effect of the work they do, made possible by public support.
Technical Stuff
Built upon the Joomla CMS platform and the K2 component to allow for powerful control over content presentation, Innove Solutions developed a custom theme/template to lend the website a bespoke feel that matched existing branding, while retaining all of the manageability expected of a CMS-based website. The website provides easily navigated and clearly presented photo galleries, videos, latest news and event coverage.
